Jonas Heß es investigador postdoctoral en el Departamento de Literatura Comparada de la Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (JGU). Es licenciado en Musicología y Literatura Comparada y tiene un máster en Literatura Comparada, durante los cuales cursó un semestre en la Rijksuniversiteit Groningen (Países Bajos). Completó su doctorado (2026) con una tesis titulada «Literarische Erkenntnis? Zur kognitiven Wirksamkeit literarischer Texte» («¿Percepción literaria? Sobre la eficacia cognitiva de los textos literarios»). Además de su labor investigadora y docente, es asesor académico y director editorial de la revista en línea e impresa literaturkritik.de.
Sus intereses de investigación —aparte de la poesía— se centran en los ámbitos de la teoría literaria, así como en la literatura y el conocimiento (epistemología literaria). Entre sus publicaciones recientes se incluyen, entre otras, dos libros coeditados sobre poesía: Lyrik der Welt – Welt der Lyrik. Lyrik und Lyrikforschung aus komparatistischer Perspektive (Heidelberg 2022) y Kunst in Versen. Essays zur Lyrik (Marburgo, 2020), así como varios artículos sobre, entre otros temas, la poesía y los textos líricos y el valor cognitivo de la literatura. Además, ha publicado más de 30 reseñas, principalmente de obras literarias, así como ensayos y entrevistas sobre temas relacionados con la literatura, la crítica literaria y la cultura en general.
Jonas Heß is a Research Associate at the Department of Comparative Literature at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany (JGU). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Musicology and Comparative Literature and a Master’s degree in Comparative Literature. During his Masters, he spent a term at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, Netherlands. He completed his PhD (University of Mainz, 2026) with a dissertation titled Literarische Erkenntnis? Zur kognitiven Wirksamkeit literarischer Texte (Literary Insight? On the Cognitive Efficacy of Literary Texts). In addition to his research and teaching, he is academic advisor as well as managing editor of the online and print journal literaturkritik.de.
His research interests ― apart from poetry ― lie in the areas of literary theory as well as literature and knowledge (literary epistemology). Recent publications include ―among others― two co-edited books on poetry (Lyrik der Welt – Welt der Lyrik. Lyrik und Lyrikforschung aus komparatistischer Perspektive (Heidelberg 2022). And Kunst in Versen. Essays zur Lyrik (Marburg 2020), as well as several articles concerning, inter alia, poetry and lyrical texts and the cognitive value of literature. In addition, he has published over 30 reviews mainly of literary works as well as essays and interviews on topics related to literature, literary criticism, and culture in general.
